Dr. Clarkson is a registered professional engineer in the State of Oklahoma.  He is also an active member in the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors and International Association of Water Quality / Specialist Groups:  Use of Macrophytes in Water Pollution Control, Anaerobic Digestion. 

• B.S.E. in Civil Engineering - Duke University
• M.S. in Environmental Systems Engineering - Clemson University
• Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering - Cornell University

He majored in Waste Management with minors in Microbiology and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Clarkson was awarded the 1986 Engineering-Science/Association of Environmental Engineering Professors Doctoral Thesis Award in the field of Environmental Engineering and Science.
