Dr. Gipson is Professor in the Structural Engineering and Mechanics group with CIVE at Oklahoma State University. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Gipson teaches interdisciplinary mechanics courses for CIVE and the College Engineering Science program. He has taught eighteen distinct courses and has generated four Ph.D. degree awardees while at Oklahoma State.

Dr. Gipson's specialties are classical mechanics of solids, applied mathematics, and computational mechanics. He has authored over eighty research papers on these subjects, with particular emphasis on boundary integral equation methods applied to all areas of engineering. Dr. Gipson has also authored one book and co-authored two others on the boundary element method. He is in the process of developing several other texts in all areas of engineering mechanics.
