Dr. Oberlender is Professor of Civil Engineering and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Construction Engineering and Project Management at OSU. He has served on the civil faculty at OSU for over 30 years.

Dr. Oberlender is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and has been inducted into the National Academy of Construction and a Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) where he has held numerous national offices, including Vice President of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Construction Practice Division.  He has served as Chairman of the Construction Engineering Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Dr. Oberlender has served on the Academic Council of the Construction Industry Institute (CII) and was principal investigator for the Change Order Impacts Task Force Team and the Improving Early Estimates Research Team, which studied $5.6 billion in construction projects.
