Don Snethen is Professor of Civil Engineering and Coordinator of the graduate program in the Geotechnical Engineering area.

Dr. Snethen worked as a Research Civil Engineer with the U.S. Army Engineers-Waterways Experiment Station (WES) from 1972 - 1979, with his research concentrating on behavior of expansive soils. While at WES he managed a $750,000 study of expansive soils in highway subgrades and assisted in two major studies of expansive soils in foundations of structures funded by the U.S. Army-Chief of Engineers. In 1979, Dr. Snethen returned to Oklahoma State University as an Associate Professor with the CIVE.

Dr. Snethen teaches courses in the soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering areas and has been instructor/coordinator for the Senior Design course for nine years. His primary interests are in classical soil mechanics, partially saturated soil behavior, soil improvement, geosynthetics, and earthwork quality control.
