Kelvin Wang: the New President of the Transportation & Development Institute of ASCE
Professor Kelvin C.P. Wang, OSU Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Gorman Gilbert/Bert Cooper/ W&W Steel Chair, has become the president of the Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). His term begins October, 2016. The T&DI has 16,000+ members and a mission of promoting the welfare and status of transportation and development professional and advancing the state-of-the-art and state-of-the-practice of planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and research in support of sustainable transportation and development.
In FY 2015, Dr. Wang served as the T&DI Treasurer. In FY 2016, he was the Vice President and serve as one of T&DI’s delegates to the Technical Region Board of Governors (TRBG). In this Fiscal Year (FY 2017), he is T&DI’s President and the senior T&DI delegate to TRBG, and in the fourth year (FY 2018) he will serve as Past President and chair the Awards Committee and the Membership Committee.
Dr. Wang has served T&DI and ASCE in many capacities including organizing over ten international conferences and leading five technical committees as a T&DI council chair. He was awarded the prestigious Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award in 2011, as a result of his scholarship and discovery accomplishments.
